Last year, Dr. Dennis Horanic of Lake Forest Dentistry once again earned a spot on Orlando magazine’s Top Dentists list. To determine the area’s 222 best dentists, Orlando magazine relied on extensive surveys and took into account years of experience, continuing education, client care, use of new technology, and physical results. In fact, 2021 marked the 10th year in a row that Dr. Horanic made the magazine’s respected list.

“Technology has really improved dentistry over the last five to 10 years,” he says. “As a practitioner, I’ve been focusing more on the things that we can do to dramatically improve patients’ comfort and experience.”
For example, Dr. Horanic uses a new topical gel (called TAC-Gel) that numbs an area of the gums before he administers a traditional anesthetic shot. He says most people feel nothing with TAC-Gel, which is especially helpful for patients who dread needles. He’s also introduced a pH-balanced anesthetic, which is less painful when injected into the gums.
“People used to feel the pinch of a different pH or a different temperature,” he explains. “But if you use the right anesthetic, patients get much more numb. In about 90 percent of our cases, people don’t feel the shot at all.”
