SCAC Awards Grants to Local Nonprofits

The Seminole Cultural Arts Council (SCAC) recently awarded a total of $13,500 in grant money to nine local nonprofit organizations that will bring artistic and cultural programming to our community.
The grants, which came from sales of Florida State of the Arts specialty license plates and other funding, were announced at an SCAC meeting at The Ritz Theater at the Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center in Sanford. The grant recipients for the 2024-25 fiscal year are:
Hagerty High School Band Boosters: $1,000 for the repair and purchase of musical instruments for band students at the school.
Johnson Hill-Washington Heights Community Outreach: $2,000 for its annual Black history program in February 2025 in Oviedo.
Love Your Shorts Film Festival: $2,000 to help market its festival in February 2025 in Sanford.
Orange Blossom Blues Society: $2,000 for its Blues in the Schools program, which will be brought to Boys and Girls Clubs branches in Altamonte Springs and Oviedo.
St. Johns River Festival of the Arts: $2,000 to bring in performing artists to entertain at the festival in April 2025 in Sanford.
Seniors for a Better Community: $500 for a community cultural arts exchange program that will run from December 2024 through September 2025 in Casselberry.
Society for Historic Casselberry: $1,000 for its annual A Night of the Mystic Arts festival, which will be held in January 2025 in Casselberry.
The Ritz Theater at the Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center: $2,000 for a Juniors Repertory production of The Wizard of Oz: Youth Edition in June 2025 in Sanford.
Wekiva River Players: $1,000 for its production of the musical Six: Teen Edition in early 2025 at The Ritz Theater in Sanford.
Founded in 1994, the Seminole Cultural Arts Council is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and a member of the Florida Association of Local Arts Agencies. The arts council serves, supports, and nurtures the cultural and artistic needs of Seminole County. The SCAC is an advocate for the preservation of local cultural and historic heritage including performing, literary, and visual arts and sciences, and it serves to sustain, develop, and advance the cultural life of the county.
