Comfort Keepers

by Susan Shalhoub

Comfort Keepers is rooted in the concept of helping seniors and other adults who need a hand at home with daily activities such as personal care and light housekeeping.

Yet the caring professionals at Comfort Keepers also encourage their clients to do as much for themselves as possible, says Gina Brooks, who owns the Oviedo location with her husband, Tony.

“We call it Interactive Caregiving,” says Gina. “It’s making sure our clients are interactive with life. Because if you don’t use it, you lose it.”

New clients first complete an intake process with a registered nurse and are then paired with a healthcare professional based on compatibility. Comfort Keepers has a team of about 100 CNAs (Certified Nursing Assistants) and HHAs (Home Health Aides) at the ready, which ensures that every client receives care when promised.

“Most clients just need a little extra love and care,” says Gina, “such as cleaning the bathroom, going to appointments, or helping with their pets.”

Clients often form close bonds with their healthcare professionals, who have been known to share recipes, stories, and family memories with one another.

“Some clients have been with our healthcare professionals for years,” says Gina.

With Comfort Keepers, clients not only receive assistance with their in-home daily tasks, they forge true friendships with their cherished healthcare professionals.
