Wilson & Company

Oviedo City Church began holding services in February within its new house of worship, a project completed by Wilson & Company, Inc. featuring the renovation of an unoccupied building at 300 West State Road 434, near the intersection of the Central Florida GreeneWay.

The building, which had sat empty for a number of years, was gutted and the shell of the structure made into a modern-day, high-tech church.

Wilson & Company served as the general contractor providing initial site due diligence, scope budgeting, design assistance, and construction of the 17,800-square-foot, year-long project.

“The transformation and the rebirth of an old building is a great thing to see and be part of,” says Rick Salmon, Wilson & Company project manager. “It has been an honor to help the church complete this beautiful project.”

“Our team worked to help realize the vision laid out by the leadership of Oviedo City Church,” adds Barry Henderson, Wilson & Company president. “We are proud to have helped rejuvenate a building constructed in 1994 into a new contemporary worship center to help achieve Oviedo City Church’s mission of serving the community.”

Some features of the new building are unique for a church. The plans called for a working stage for the live band that plays during services. A gymnasium with a basketball court completes the rear of the building. The new sanctuary of the non-denominational church is void of pews so the space can be multi-functional for dinners and hosting Chamber lunches. The renovation also included restrooms, a kitchen, classrooms, and offices.

Pastor Dan Lacich says the high-tech aspect – including high-end acoustics and a 30-foot LED video wall – is essential for Oviedo City Church services.

“It is very comfortable,” says Dan. “It has an industrial feel with an open ceiling, and the lobby gives off a coffee-house vibe. Our worship space has a clean feel to it.”

“The modern finishes of this now state-of-the-art sanctuary will serve the Oviedo and Winter Springs community for many years to come,” says Barry. “Wilson & Company is proud to have served members of our community with their commercial construction needs by assisting them with various aspects of this project.”

Since opening its own doors, Wilson & Company has found somewhat of a niche with the construction of churches. Other local clients include CrossLife Church in Oviedo and Seventh-day Adventist in Sanford. These projects complement an entire suite of Wilson & Company builds throughout our community and the entire Southeast.
