Vollrath Law

Stephanie and Sharon Vollrath grew up together as sisters but never dreamed they would someday become professional partners, as well.

“It wasn’t a plan,” says Stephanie. “As much as it seems like it was a plan, that we should go to law school and start a firm together, it wasn’t. It just happened that way.”

But it wasn’t immediate. Sharon and Stephanie’s professional paths did not converge until they had both built careers and families of their own.

“I was a financial advisor,” Stephanie says, “but I left to raise a family, and I just didn’t want to go back into that field. I felt like I didn’t have enough control of my destiny.”

Stephanie says she had always wanted to be an attorney, so she decided to go to law school. Sharon, in the meantime, began raising a family right out of high school, eventually having four children. When her kids were old enough, Sharon went to college and earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology.

“I wanted to do something to help people,” she says. “And law is a really good tool to make a change, to make a difference.”

So, Sharon decided to go to law school, too.

In 2014, Stephanie opened Vollrath Law, a civil law firm in Oviedo, and Sharon joined soon after. Today, the sisters use their diverse life and professional experience to provide a unique perspective on legal matters to their clients. The firm specializes in family law and real estate (Sharon) and probate, estate planning, and appeals (Stephanie).

“Because I am versed in the probate area, and Sharon is versed in the real-estate area, we can offer an all-around service, so to speak, to try to help people who are navigating the probate process,” Stephanie says. “We can work together to try to make it all more seamless and hopefully less painful for families going through a difficult time.”

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought new awareness to the importance of proper estate planning. And, sadly, it has forced many more families to deal with the realities of asset distribution and proper estate resolution after the loss of a loved one.

“Unfortunately, we have lost clients to COVID,” Stephanie says, “and we have dealt with having to probate assets and sell their property through this pandemic.”

With compassion, experience, and a family atmosphere that comes naturally to these sisters, Vollrath Law is proud to serve the Oviedo community and beyond.
