D&T Property Maintenance

by Samantha Taylor

In 2020, Joy and DeWayne Endsley found themselves like millions of Americans – laid off from their corporate jobs, searching for a way to make ends meet. The couple saw the writing on the wall before their layoffs, though, and had already started a small lawn-care service business on the side. When the pink slips came, they went all-in.

Joy’s father was a firefighter who owned a lawn-care company, and DeWayne was once the neighborhood teen who mowed everyone’s lawns.

“We knew about the business, and we knew we could do things differently than other companies,” Joy explains. “We wanted our customers to feel comfortable – not like Any Old Joe was mowing their lawn. We want to become part of the family.”

And you can’t talk about the Endsley family without talking about their dogs DJ (an American Staffordshire) and Trinity (their Boston terrier/French bulldog mix). Both dogs are rescues and are the inspiration for the company name – DJ and Trinity... D&T. The Endsleys, who are self-proclaimed “major dog people,” love bringing treats for their clients’ dogs and love having the dog-owner connection with the families they serve.

Mowing is Half the Battle

What makes D&T unique is DeWayne and Joy’s commitment to year-round service. Monthly payments are prorated throughout the year so that, in the winter months when mowing regularly isn’t as necessary as it is in the summer, D&T will still come to the client’s house as often as needed to focus on the other services in the client’s landscaping plan.

“If a yard doesn’t need mowing, we’ll trim the bushes and trees or work on the landscaping,” says Joy. “It’s all part of the custom plan we create for each home.”

That’s not all D&T can help with. The dynamic duo also offers pressure washing, paver cleaning and sealing, and major yard cleanups.

When Chip Colandreo, Longwood Life’s copublisher, prepared to put a relative’s house up for sale, he knew the neglected landscape was a major curb-appeal problem. D&T came to the rescue.

“Everything was so overgrown, I couldn’t even fathom where to begin,” Chip says. “Joy and DeWayne came to the house, took plenty of notes and pictures, and went to work. A few days later, my jaw fell to the floor when I saw what they’d done. The yard and the shrubs and the trees were unrecognizable. It all looked incredible, and the house sold within a week.”

The Endsleys have built their business on trust, and the company’s growth is all the proof you need.
