Central Florida Bone & Joint Institute

Thereare a lot of overly large orthopedic surgery practices in the Orlando area, where patients might feel like just another number. Central Florida Bone & Joint Institute is not one of them.
“One of the best things about us is the personalized care we can offer,” says Dr. Brian Leung, orthopedic surgeon and owner of the Institute. “We’re about quality, not quantity.”
The practice, with offices in Lake Mary and Orange City, was named the No. 1 orthopedic surgery clinic last year by Orlando’s Best, an annual awards program that highlights and recognizes the top companies and places in the area.
The Institute’s dedicated team is made up of three doctors, one physician assistant, and two nurse practitioners. Dr. Leung says because they are a smaller practice, they can take more time to delve into their patients’ care.
“We care for patients of all ages and treat conditions from the neck to the feet,” he says. “We are all board-certified orthopedic experts and practice the most current, advanced surgical and nonsurgical techniques.”
In that spirit, Central Florida Bone & Joint Institute offers cutting-edge treatments such as platelet-rich plasma injections to heal damaged tendons and joints. The treatment uses a patient’s own blood cells to accelerate healing in a specific area.
The Institute also utilizes robotics in joint replacement and spine surgeries and performs muscle-sparing approaches, a minimally invasive surgical technique that can be used for hip and knee replacements. It’s designed to reduce pain and complications and help patients recover faster.
“Surgery is always the last resort,” says Dr. Leung. “We will try every other treatment option first.”
He has been in practice for 15 years. One of the gratifying things for Dr. Leung is that he has now been practicing long enough to start treating the children of some of his original patients.
“That really is what has built our practice,” he says, “patients trusting us with their family members and telling their friends about us.”
The Lake Mary and Orange City offices both offer urgent-care treatment. Established patients and new patients alike can come in and be seen that day or the next, hopefully saving them from an expensive emergency room visit.
“We want our community to know that we are here for them,” says Dr. Leung.
