Law Office of Mary Beth Kelly

Over the past two years, all of us together have been introduced to, become educated about (and some of us have even experienced the wrath of) COVID-19 and its sickness and sorrows.

It appears the pandemic is now becoming endemic. Although we cannot let our guard down, we may be able to relax just a little. This relaxation can then hopefully provide us an opportunity to take a step back from the harsh realities of the past two years, regroup, and maybe reprioritize: our families, our friends, our community, our lives. The Law Office of Mary Beth Kelly in Lake Mary provides legal advice and assistance to focus on our priorities through the power of proper estate planning.

Planning is a way of prioritizing what is important to us.

Most of us have a financial plan. As we experience our day-to-day lives, we are constantly striving to reach, or surpass, our financial goals. We have budgets to help us along the way. We plan for our future as best we can to ultimately make not only our own lives better and more secure but to secure the lives of our children and loved ones, as well.

With the help of attorney Mary Beth Kelly and her team, creating and establishing an estate plan is another way of prioritizing, and it complements our financial plans. In fact, a good financial plan absent a good estate plan is incomplete. Good planning, both financial and estate, allows us to plan for the future yet be prepared for           the unknown.

By establishing a good estate plan, we prepare ourselves for the unknown of the future by executing Advance Directives wherein we appoint who will have legal authority to help us with our financial, business, general, and medical decisions, rather than the Court making its own appointment. Advance Directives include Powers of Attorney for Medical, General, and Real Estate purposes, Living Wills, etc.

By establishing a good estate plan, we execute our Will, and possibly create a Trust, to state in writing our wishes for the distribution of our assets upon our death, rather than leaving our estate to pass pursuant to the law.

And in creating a good estate plan, if appropriate, the potential for qualifying for public benefits is discussed so we can become educated on the process, which will allow us to then apply that information to our own financial plan independently.

Each of our lives is a special journey, a journey to be enjoyed. Mary Beth focuses her legal practice on helping others prioritize and plan, and she believes enjoyment of life is an absolute end result of good planning. Estate planning brings peace of mind not only to the planner but to the planner’s loved ones. And that peace of mind enhances the possibility we will enjoy the rest of our special journey.
