One Senior Place

Finding dependable care and resources for your older family members can be a daunting task, especially if you’re not sure where to look. But what if the answers you needed were actually all in one place, with friendly, knowledgeable experts ready to help? That’s exactly what One Senior Place in Altamonte Springs can offer...and their services are free!

Don Kramer, One Senior Place founder and CEO, realized nearly 19 years ago that finding reliable resources for seniors can be overwhelming. That’s why he started the business, which provides a one-stop resource for senior products and services that include counseling, referrals, educational events, and any other needs your family may have.

Over time, says Don, One Senior Place has seen multiple generations of the same families coming through the doors. As a person ages, it is important to understand how to prepare for a comfortable life, no matter their financial situation.

“I originally thought that once we told people what we were and what we did, we would only have to explain it for a couple of years, and the marketplace would understand,” says Don. “But what we learned is we’re never going to be done explaining why our services are so important because people age in and age out. There’s always a new crowd, and we introduce ourselves more now than we ever did before.”

With free consultations, Don says he often sees new seniors or their families coming in with hopes of solving one issue, and leaving with plans to address other problems they hadn’t realized they were about to face.

“With the help of One Senior Place, quality of life is likely to be drastically improved,” says Don. “We’re going to point out some potholes they may be about to step in but don’t see yet. We’ve had clients who were able to live out their lives with more money because they came to us first and avoided making very damaging decisions.”

One Senior Place partners with a number of Resident Businesses – from elder-law attorneys to senior-living communities to audiologists and so many more – to offer an expanded range of services. When deciding if an organization is the right fit for a Resident Business partnership with One Senior Place, Don’s team focuses on what they call a triple win. The key factors he considers are if the business will be a good fit at One Senior Place, if both parties will benefit when it comes to their own business goals, and – most importantly –  if the partnership will be helpful for the senior clients that both parties serve.

“If the answer is yes to all three, it almost can’t miss,” says Don. “And if it’s not a yes to all three, we probably will politely decline, because the partnership has to work for everybody.”

Even if you don’t yet consider yourself a part of the senior community, now is the time to look into your own care – not later on when you’re desperate to find something quickly. Don says he often sees clients trying to find solutions for their older parents. While it may not be possible to solve every single situation the parent is currently facing, it’s never too early to start on your own plan.

“This year, we threw our first event catered to Generation X,” says Don. “When they come in, they think they’re coming in to talk about their parents, but really we end up talking to them about themselves.”

One Senior Place is the perfect square one for anyone looking for guidance in older age. Rather than trying to find solutions on your own, it makes more sense to visit a one-stop resource that has everything already prepared for you.

“There are a lot of great providers, and you can ask your neighbor or look through ads on the internet,” says Don. “But why would you do that when you can start with One Senior Place?”
