Sonata Lake Mary

by Jill Cousins

When you drive to Sonata Lake Mary, it’s impossible to ignore the street address of our area’s premier resort-style retirement community: 410 Caring Drive. Even though the road’s name was already in place when Sonata broke ground in 2021, it’s clear to see that the name suits the community perfectly.

Caring is central to everything that happens at Sonata Lake Mary. The experienced management staff and welcoming concierge team are among the many people who make it their priority to ensure that every resident is cared for like family in a luxurious, safe, and secure environment. Right there on Caring Drive.

“We’re always kind of teased about that,” Executive Director Brooke Ellis says of Sonata’s street name. “Our address is Caring Drive, where we care for people and put them first. Why wouldn’t you want to have an address where you know people care?”

Sonata Lake Mary, which opened in 2022 in the Lake Mary Wellness and Technology Park, is also conveniently surrounded by the workplaces of many other caring individuals. Orlando Health’s Emergency Room and Medical Pavilion are within walking distance of Sonata, and AdventHealth’s ER and the Lake Mary Fire Department are minutes away, off Rinehart Road.

Lending a Helping Hand

Sonata Lake Mary was also designed to provide a continuum of care for its residents, with a multitude of services and amenities in Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care. For those seniors who have made the decision to opt for a more carefree lifestyle, Sonata’s staff will make sure any transition they need is as smooth as possible. They will be there every step of the way to answer every question, no matter how big or small, and help their new residents in every way possible.

Among those helpful and caring staff members are move-in coordinator Claudia Montanez, who will walk residents through the move-in process, and Wellness Director Lanetrius Nichols, a nurse who helps families navigate their loved ones’ aging process and changing needs. Sonata is also establishing an Ambassador Program, where resident volunteers assist new residents as they acclimate to their new home.

“For me, the difference here is that personal touch,” says Kim Luna, Sonata Lake Mary’s Sales Director. “We provide anything they need. There will always be a live person to help you, and I love that. That’s definitely one of the things that sets us apart.”

The decision to move into a senior living community can be a difficult one, and that’s why the staff at Sonata goes that extra mile to help. Team members are sensitive to the fact that new residents are leaving a home, friends, and a community where memories were created over decades. But the great thing about senior living is that residents can spend less time consumed by work and home maintenance and have more time to pursue the activities and passions they enjoy most.

A Place Where Friendships Blossom

At Sonata Lake Mary, the possibilities for fun and fulfillment are endless. Among the amenities are a heated pool, a putting green and golf simulation studio, a dog park and pet spa, a wellness center and fitness classes, and pickleball courts. Popular activities include a book club, knitters club, garden club, wine club, poker group, mahjong, and bridge.

“Even though we have a lot of structured activities,” says Brooke, “what I really love the most is when you see the friendships develop among the residents and they start forming their own groups and different activities because they have that shared interest.”

Kim agrees, adding, “It’s magic.”
