Sylvan Learning of Oviedo offers K-12 tutoring, college and career readiness, study skills, and test preparation to help your child at any stage of his or her educational journey. Owners Ana and Jason McCoskey, along with their talented team of tutors, are passionate about inspiring children to learn, grow, and succeed.
“We care deeply about our students and understand many of the challenges they face today, not only in the classroom, but in all aspects of their life,” says Ana. “Our goal at Sylvan is to provide a personalized tutoring approach to each student to help build confidence and independence. Our specialty is to help students catch up, keep up, and move ahead.”
The Sylvan system works. By keeping the program motivating and fun, Sylvan students achieve up to three times more growth in their math and reading scores than their peers. Lessons are short and focused to help students of different learning abilities master skills one at a time and close any learning gaps.
“Grades don’t always tell the full picture or reflect a student’s abilities,” says Ana. “At Sylvan, we are teaching students how to learn, and how to think critically. We are not here to only provide homework help. We want our students to be able to eventually fly on their own.”
A Sylvan tutor works with a maximum of three students at a time. Working in-person helps students receive immediate feedback and keeps them accountable and motivated to work through any learning or comprehension blocks they may be facing. From math tutoring to reading and writing tutoring, Sylvan can help your child build confidence, become eager to learn, and see real results in the classroom.
“We have the big responsibility of being honest with our students about what they need to succeed,” says Ana. “We tailor a plan for them and approach it with the utmost attention, care, and positivity.”
