Arden Courts ProMedica Memory Care Community

by Susan Shalhoub

Arden Courts ProMedica Memory Care Communities, with locations in 11 states, have developed a strong reputation for understanding and caring for those with memory loss while encouraging their independence.

Arden Courts in Winter Springs is celebrating its 25th year of serving our community with care and compassion.

Individuals with memory loss due to Alzheimer’s and other dementias benefit from the facility’s trained caregivers as well as its visiting physicians group.

“Our focus is always on how we can adapt to our residents’ needs,” says Kathryn Cordova, Arden Courts Memory Care Advisor.

With four separate houses and an innovative property design, Arden Courts caters to residents’ needs while keeping them comfortable and secure.

Each house has its own living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room, as well as 15 private bedrooms with private bathrooms. Supervised shower facilities ensure the residents’ safety. And, the common areas encourage socialization and engagement.

What further sets Arden Courts apart is amenities like the ¾-mile-long walking paths around the building, offering residents freedom of movement whenever they wish.

“Individuals with dementia often like to wander,” says Kathryn. “Here, they can do so safely, in a supervised setting. Their bodies want to be active, and that’s a positive thing. We encourage it.”

Arden Courts in Winter Springs cares for up to 60 residents, who currently range in age from 48 to 103.

Ninety-six hours of programming are offered per week, and the activities are adjusted to meet the residents’ needs.

Trivia, word games, exercise, and art classes are just a few of the offerings.

“One of our residents is a retired University of Central Florida art professor,” says Kathryn. “We set him up with easels, and he leads art classes for our residents. It gives him a sense of purpose, and it’s something he loves to do.”

At Arden Courts, the community and programming are tailored specifically for memory care. Also, there is a high rate of retention among the well-trained staff, who see the rewards of their work every day.

If families are considering a memory care facility, say the experts at Arden Courts, it’s best to move forward sooner rather than later so their loved one can benefit from all Arden Courts has to offer.

"We encourage families not to wait," says Kathryn. “We have a passion for caring for those with memory loss, while supporting their families through the disease process as well.”
